International DJ accused of lying by the defense team after she sues their client of £100,000 over an injury she sustained outside Kipferl Cafe

DJ Chloe Caillet is suing for £100,000 in compensation after falling bricks struck her outside a cafe in North Kensington in June 2018. Caillet, a French DJ, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, claims the injuries she sustained meant she was unable to perform, leading to a £50,000 loss of earnings over six months.

Caillet cites soft-tissue injuries to her left shoulder and ACL joint, back injuries, bruising, and abrasions to her legs, feet, and hands, as well as psychiatric after-effects.

However, Caillet’s claim is facing allegations of fundamental dishonesty after defence lawyers discovered social media posts appearing to show the DJ playing events across the world, including the Burning Man Festival in Nevada in August and September 2018. The posts were part of a 300-page bundle of evidence produced by an investigator, mostly taken from Caillet’s Instagram account.

Nick Grimshaw, barrister for the owner of the builder, O’Hare Holdings Ltd, presented the evidence in a preliminary hearing at Central London County Court. He argued that the evidence contradicts Caillet’s claims of being unable to perform, and that she had been fundamentally dishonest in presenting her claim.

O’Hare Holdings admitted fault for the accident, but Caillet’s claim may be dismissed entirely if her alleged dishonesty is proven.

During the hearing, Judge Christopher Lethem KC gave directions towards a trial at a later date. He stated that the bulk of the case would come down to whether Caillet worked during the six months she claimed she was too unwell to perform.

The judge also noted that Caillet would have to give an explanation for her social media posts and indicate when she worked.

The case highlights the importance of evidence in legal proceedings and the potential consequences of being found to be dishonest.
