Injuries and contract expiration: Will Billiat leave Kaizer Chiefs?

The club has revealed that Kaizer Chiefs talisman Khama Billiat has been ruled out for the remainder of the current season due to injury.

Billiat has not played for Chiefs since the team’s 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates on October 29, 2022, a span of six matches.

According to the Chiefs’ medical staff, Billiat has undergone surgery to repair a torn groin muscle.

Khama Billiat, who underwent surgery to repair a torn groin muscle, is currently on our injury list. He will miss the remainder of the season, according to Chiefs physiotherapist David Milner.

Now that Billiat is sidelined for the remainder of the season, the most pressing question is whether or not the former Warriors forward has played his final game for the Chiefs.

Since his second season with the Chiefs, Billiat has struggled with injuries, which has badly hampered his performances to the point that a portion of club supporters wanted him to leave.

Keagan Dolly’s arrival at Chiefs improved his form, and it was anticipated that he would gradually capitalize on his understanding with the Bafana Bafana international.

With only 11 appearances and no goals this season, Billiat has made it difficult for himself to win a new contract with the Chiefs.

Billiat’s current contract expires in June, and given his injury and recent subpar play, he may want to prepare himself for a possible leave.

To date, the 32-year-old has appeared in 125 matches for Chiefs, scored 24 goals, and provided 29 assists, although these numbers are far lower than when he played for Sundowns.

During his five-year tenure at Sundowns, Billiat scored 47 goals and recorded 43 assists in just 140 competitive appearances.
