In India’s first ‘sologamy,’ a blogger is planning to marry herself.

An Indian woman has stated that she will marry herself in what has been labeled the country’s first’sologamy,’ but others have dismissed it as nothing more than a publicity gimmick to gain attention.

Kshama Bindu, a sociology graduate and ‘digital creative’ from Gujarat’s western state, is poised to marry herself on June 11 in Vadodara in a traditional Hindu wedding attended by family and friends.

Before embarking on a two-week honeymoon throughout the southern state of Goa, the 24-year-old believes the marriage would be a “deep act of self-acceptance” and she will dedicate herself to a life of “self-love.”

The marriage, however, will not be legitimate, according to experts, because others have accused her of being a ‘attention seeking.’

‘You can live with yourself without marrying yourself, You are just an attention seeker, & you played well,’ one Twitter user wrote.

‘Woke, a Joke!’ wrote another, while a third added: ‘As crazy as it can get.’

Speaking to India’s NDTV, Bindu said: ‘I realised that I don’t require a prince charming because I am my own queen. I want the wedding day, but not the next day.

‘That is why I have decided to marry myself on June 11. I will dress up like a bride, take part in rituals, my friends will attend my wedding and then I will come back to my house instead of going with the groom.’

She told the BBC that the festivities will kick off on June 11 with a traditional Haldi bath, in which tumeric combined with oil and water is rubbed all over the body as a blessing for a happy marriage.

Sangeet, a traditional music and dance ceremony, will also take place on the same morning.

Before heading to the temple, Bindu would have her hands painted with henna and her hair marked with vermilion powder.

When she arrives, she will build a sacred fire and walk seven steps around it alone, as is customary for both couples.

She’ll go to Goa for two weeks of solo vacation once she returns home.
