Evan McClintock, the fiancé of Hailie Jade Mathers Scott, recently shared the story of how he asked for the blessing of iconic rapper Eminem before proposing to his daughter. Hailie, the daughter of Eminem and his ex-wife Kim Scott, has been dating McClintock for six years. During the latest episode of Hailie’s podcast, “Just a Little Shady”, McClintock revealed that he asked for Eminem’s blessing on Christmas Day, which also happens to be Hailie’s birthday.
“I saw your dad go downstairs, and I’m like, ‘I gotta do it right now, or I’m not doing it today, and I’m gonna have to schedule another time,’” McClintock recalled. He followed Eminem downstairs and found him getting Hailie’s cake. McClintock then took the opportunity to ask for Eminem’s blessing, which he gladly gave.
While the proposal to Eminem went smoothly, the search for the perfect ring was a different story. McClintock admitted that finding the perfect diamond ring was a daunting task. He began searching for it during Thanksgiving and eventually found it with the help of Hailie’s sister, Alaina Marie Scott.
“The day after my birthday, you got it? That’s crazy,” Hailie said, adding that she had “no idea” McClintock was searching for rings. “It’s funny, so your sister really helped me out,” McClintock added. “She basically told me what for sure not to get.”
The couple got engaged on February 4th and shared the happy news on Instagram. Hailie posted a photo of herself and McClintock, with the caption “casual weekend recap… 2.4.23,” alongside a champagne bottle emoji.
Hailie and McClintock first met in 2016 at Michigan State University, and their first appearance on Instagram was in December of that year when they celebrated Hailie’s festive birthday together.
