In a drive-by shooting in Texas, two boys, aged 5 and 17, were murdered and another kid, 18 months old, was wounded.

On Sunday afternoon in Fort Worth, Texas, a 5-year-old kid and a 17-year-old boy were both shot and killed outside of a residence. The local police chief described the tragedy as “senseless.”

Authorities believe that several suspects were travelling in a car when the event happened at around 2:15 p.m. on Steel Dust Drive in the city of Fort Worth, shooting both boys and an 18-month-old.

They then left the area without waiting for authorities to even attempt to describe the automobile.

The 17-year-old and 5-year-old were rushed to nearby hospitals, where they eventually passed away, according to Police Chief Neil Noakes. Despite having minor injuries, the 18-month-old is likely to live.

Noakes said that the three victims may be linked, however he was unable to establish this.

However, the tragedy that we are all going through takes on a whole other dimension when children are involved.

Although the number of individuals they are now searching for is unknown, Noakes does not believe the community is currently under danger.

“Fort Worth police will devote all available resources to this investigation to do everything we can to do everything we can to bring those responsible to justice as quickly as possible,” he said.

They are also investigating if there was any gang involvement in the shooting, although at this time they were unable to confirm or refute this.
