Duties

The Provost, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the College, is responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the institution.
The selected applicant would be required to provide strong professional, academic, and administrative leadership for the institution in the execution of the broad policies outlined by the Governing Council and Regulatory Agencies for the fulfillment of the College’s stated goals.
It would be required of the Provost that he or she has strong managerial qualities and creative abilities.

Other specific responsibilities of the Provost would include:

The college’s chief academic, administrative, and accounting officer.

Chairman of the academic board that directs and controls the college’s academic operations.

A member of the Governing Council of the College must attend all meetings of the council and be responsible for providing periodic reports on the college’s progress in terms of personnel, finances, and infrastructure, as well as ensuring that council decisions are faithfully and expeditiously implemented.

Responsible for approving and authorizing all payments, although he/she may delegate authority for certain votes to other officers in addition to all the expenditures of the college in accordance with the Government financial regulations, treasury circulars, and Governing councils decisions/directives under sound financial discipline and managements as advised by the College Bursar in all financial matters.

Responsible for ensuring meetings of the College’s council and its committees are serviced properly.

A person who will foster good relations with the relevant organs of the Public Colleges of Education, the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and other professional agencies, institutions, and bodies, leading to the College’s ultimate attainment of Centre of Excellence in Service status.

Competencies and Experience

The candidate must hold a Doctorate with honors from an accredited university in a field pertinent to at least one programme offered by the College.

The candidate must be a registered and active member of an Education-related Professional Association.
Possession of a professional teaching credential, such as a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), is required.

Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) as a Professional Teacher is a plus.
At the time of appointment, candidates must not be older than fifty-five (55) years old.

Candidate must have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of post-qualification teaching and research experience in an institution of higher education. Additionally, the candidate must have held a senior teaching/research and top administrative position in an institution of higher education as evidence of their ability to manage human and material resources.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong track record of conducting result-oriented, nationally and internationally recognized research, as evidenced by their scholarly publications.

The candidate must have at least five years of experience equivalent to that of a Chief Lecturer.

Candidate must be a person of demonstrated integrity, intellectually and professionally sound, and familiar with the College of Education system’s laws and regulations.

The candidate must be resourceful and able to command the respect and allegiance of the College’s faculty and students.

This individual must not be likely to promote personal, social, ethnic, political, religious, or other sectoral interests.

The candidate must be adept in ICT skills and software and must have community service experience.

The candidate must be a visionary, a goal-setter and achiever, and capable of developing and implementing a strategic plan for the College.

Duties

The Bursar is the College’s Chief Financial Officer and is accountable to the Provost for the day-to-day management and control of the College’s financial affairs.
The Bursar shall hold office for the same duration as other public colleges of education, beginning on the date of his/her appointment, and under such terms and conditions as may be indicated in the letter of appointment.

Competencies and Experience

The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree with honors in accounting or a related field, along with at least ten years of relevant experience, preferably in a College of Education accounting system or that of a comparable institution of higher education, Industry, commerce, or any other branch of the Public Service.
Possession of a relevant advanced degree will be an asset, as will adequate knowledge of computer applications and Certificate of the Final Examinations of any of the recognized bodies, such as ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, or any other suitable accounting professional qualification.
The individual to be selected must have demonstrated in the past a high level of talent, competence, industry, and honesty.
He or she must be proactive and capable of managing a coordinated, decentralized Bursary system efficiently and effectively.

Duties

The Registrar, a Principal Officer of the College, is accountable to the Provost for the administration of the College on a daily basis.
Secretary to the Governing Council, the Academic Board, and other Statutory Committees.
He/she is responsible for maintaining records and issuing certificates, as well as interpreting and applying College requirements.

Competencies and Experience
