Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a fiery liberal, said that her house had been “swatted” early on Wednesday.

Just before 9am, the Donald Trump loyalist hailed her neighbourhood police force in a tweet and promised to provide additional details.

She did not go into further detail about the kind of procedure she claims took place.

“Last night, shortly after 1 am, I was swatted. I can’t thank my local police enforcement enough here in Rome, Floyd County. More information will be released,’ Greene tweeted.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, her office acknowledged that Greene’s house was the target of a “political assault.”

“At the moment, Congresswoman Greene’s safety is our first priority. Her family and house were the targets of a political assault late last evening, according to Greene’s office.

“Whoever perpetrated this horrific act will face the full force of the law,” the statement reads.

Since the FBI conducted an unauthorised search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida in recent weeks, Greene has been at the forefront of GOP criticism of federal law enforcement.

In connection with a National Archives search for sensitive materials, the FBI carried out a search warrant at the Palm Beach house in the wee hours of August 8.

Trump’s friends like Greene and Rep. Elise Stefanik, the chair of the GOP Conference, denounced the raid as a weaponization of the Justice Department and asked that Merrick Garland, the attorney general, and Christopher Wray, the director of the FBI, face penalties.

Other Republicans have criticised it, citing official concerns of an uptick in violent threats against federal law enforcement personnel as a result of the FBI operation.

Greene’s use of the term “swatted” is unclear, as is if it was the outcome of a federal investigation or had anything to do with Trump.
