Hugo Broos says Bafana will camp in November

Johannesburg — Hugo Broos, coach of Bafana Bafana, has confirmed that the national team would hold a training camp in November after receiving approval from Fifa this week.

Bafana defeated Sierra Leone 4-0 on Saturday, and will face Botswana on Tuesday night at FNB.

Given the ambitions of the PSL, their plans to host another camp right before the World Cup in November were in serious doubt.

The Premier League will release players for the World Cup on November 14, but four teams will compete in the Carling Cup two days earlier.

Bafana’s preparations to play two friendlies prior to their back-to-back 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Liberia in March would not be affected by these developments.

There will be a campsite. Broos stated, “We have confirmation from Fifa that between November 14 and November 20, it is a Fifa period, thus clubs must release players.”

“We will begin preparations the following week as we search for two new opponents to play.” I must state that we must prepare for the March games.”

Broos stated that he is delighted with the present group of players at his disposal and expects to retain them for the upcoming November and March fixtures.

“After analyzing tomorrow’s opponent, we’ve determined that it won’t be as easy as Saturday’s contest,” Broos added.

“However, this is a positive thing. Following these two games, it is planned to continue with this bunch. Perhaps three or four players will be replaced owing to unforeseen circumstances.”
