Police say a Houston motorist crashed into a speeding train after being shot, but amazingly survived and escaped before his car caught fire.
Investigators with the Houston Police Department reported that the event began at 7:30 p.m. when they received a report of a shooting on Telean Street.
ABC13 stated that the survivor of the shooting was able to drive away, but lost control and collided with a passing freight train in the 9700 block of Mykawa Road.
The injured motorist was able to escape his damaged vehicle before it caught fire, according to authorities.
At 8 p.m., the burned automobile was discovered partially entangled beneath a railroad car.
Meanwhile, a passing car observed the man and offered him a ride to the 6800 block of Telean Street, two miles away, before calling 911.
The unidentified man was rushed to a hospital for surgery. According to Lieutenant Larry Crowson of the Houston Police Department, the patient was anticipated to live.
The police provided no additional information regarding the circumstances behind the shooting or the ensuing sequence of events.
No arrests have been revealed in this instance as of Thursday, and the investigation is still underway.
