House where Ohio man, 22, was shot dead by his ex-girlfriend’s dad is under contract

As just 12 days on the market, the home where an Ohio father fatally shot the ex-boyfriend of his daughter after he tried to force through the closed front door has found a buyer.

Less than three weeks after the murder, a three-bedroom house in Sidney, Ohio, 80 miles northwest of Columbus, was listed for sale on August 5. It was referred to as a “small slice of paradise.”

On July 31, James Rayl, 22, turned up uninvited and started banging on the door. Mitchell Duckro, 52, shot Rayl three times through the barred front door while yelling at him to leave and claiming to have a pistol.

Prior to the shooting, Rayl dated Duckro’s daughter Allyson, 22, but their relationship ended a year and a half earlier.

The night before the shooting, Rayl left his ex-girlfriend a message asking how she was doing.

On August 5, Shelby County Prosecutor Tim Sell and Shelby County Sheriff Jim Frye stated that a grand jury had determined Duckro should not be charged with the murder.

On the same day, the home was listed for sale.

Realtor Kristi Bayhan of Fathom Realty verified that a contract had been signed for the home.

The home is under contract, according to Kristi Bayhan, a Fathom Realty real estate agent overseeing the transaction, who told DailyMail.com on Tuesday.

The 1,824 square foot house has a swimming pool and is situated on a 1.29 acre lot.

It boasts a four-car garage and a sizable basement.

The sizable home, constructed in 2000, is surrounded by farmland.

A new video clip acquired by DailyMail.com showing Mitchell, his wife Stacy, 51, and Allyson being questioned by police shortly after the incident coincided with the deal to sell the house.

Unsettling Ring camera video captures Duckro shooting defenseless Rayl through the front door of his home on North Kuther Road.

James, please get off my porch, Duckro, as Rayl tries to force his way inside the property.

Before killing him, Duckro is heard stating, “I have a gun.”

Rayl, who has been shot three times, stumbles away from the door before falling to the ground on the property’s driveway. Only his feet are visible to the camera at this point.

Additionally, neighbors are spotted leaving the area after hearing gunshots.

Before police enforcement came, they left Rayl on the floor for at least seven minutes as they attempted to save his life.

Here, 52-year-old Mitch Duckro and his 22-year-old daughter Allyson are seen having their initial conversation with Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies.

Jeffery Hereford, one of the neighbors, is seen crossing the Duckros’ front yard while yelling “don’t shoot me” and “he don’t have no gun.”

He said, “He’s dead. He was shot. He ain’t moving.”

While Rayl was dying, he and two others spoke about Rayl’s corpse for seven minutes without attempting to assist.

In response to their first warning not to approach because they believed he was carrying a gun, Stacy said that the neighbors had already alerted the emergency services.

Her screams of “he attempted to get to our kid” and “he tried to break in” can then be heard.

Did you shoot him, Hereford questioned?

He’s not moving, he’s not going anywhere, Hereford said as the Duckros shouted back that they had shot him.

Rayl attempts to break into his ex-house girlfriend’s after waiting for a while outside the door as the residents yelled at him to stop and “get off” the porch.

First responders declared Rayl dead at the site; an autopsy determined that he had died from a deadly gunshot wound to the back in addition to two shoulder gunshot wounds.

Hi Ally, it’s James. I just wanted to reach out to you because I just wanted to check how you’re doing, Rayl says in his farewell voicemail to his former.

“And maybe hear from you to see if it would be okay I think.”

“I haven’t spoken to you in a while, and I’m not sure how I feel,” the speaker says.

He apparently received a response from Duckro asking, “What’s up?”

Allyson allegedly worked as a dispatcher for the Sheriff’s office in the past, according to sources.

Duckro should not be charged with a criminal under Ohio’s “Stand Your Ground” law, a grand jury decided by a vote of 8 to 1.

The “Castel Doctrine” rules and the law empower homeowners to use deadly force when they feel threatened.

Allyson Duckro can be heard thanking her father on the 911 call, exclaiming, “Dad, there’s nothing you could have done, you saved my life.”

The front door was a sturdy wooden door with a lock, the Shelby County Prosecutor’s office and Shelby County Sheriff’s office stated in a joint statement.

“The deadbolt was discovered to be locked, and the door’s lock side case was damaged.”

Three holes were discovered in the door’s ornate glass pane, and three spent hollow point 9mm cartridges were discovered on the ground. On the fireplace’s mantel, there was a weapon.

The Duckros were recognized as the home’s inhabitants by Mitch, Stacy, and Allyson Duckro, and their first interviews were performed there.

“Mitch Duckro acknowledged to firing the gun three times and suggested that he did so. Allyson Duckro said that she was acquainted with James Rayl since they had dated for a year and a half before calling it quits.

She informed law police about a voicemail Rayl left for her late the day before.

James was “murdered” by Duckro, according to Rayl’s family, who have started a “Justice for James” campaign, promising that “justice will be done.”

His sister, Jessica, posted the following online: “Mitch murdered him by shooting him in the back. And Mitchy, we know more than just that.

“I hope your days are the worst they’ve ever been for you.”

Together with your daughter, “You’re a terrible excuse of a human being.”
