On February 4, Gqom superstars Distruction Boyz announced their split on Instagram, telling their fans that they will spend some time apart and focus on their individual businesses.
Thobani “Que” Mgobhozi and Zipho “Goldmix” Mthembu of Distruction Boyz are well-known for their hit singles including Omunye, Shut Up and Groove, Midnight Starring, and Amaxoki, among others.
The Gqom music duo crushed the hearts of their devoted fans when they announced that they would be doing one more show before disbanding.
“Thank you, Gqom community members, for your support throughout the years! Permit us to take a vacation from being the beloved Distruction Boyz duo so that we can focus on our separate careers,” the Distruction Boyz wrote online.
Some fans were not convinced that the artists intended to reconvene at a later date, despite their assurances.
They observed that the announcement from Distruction Boyz seemed familiar. The fans feared that the band will follow in the footsteps of Black Motion and Liquid Deep.
They nevertheless wished the artists well and bade them farewell as a pair.
According to Kaya FM, the band has reunited after disbanding in 2020.
