Girl drowns at water park during friend’s party

Police are looking into how an 11-year-old girl died yesterday at a water park in the Berkshires while celebrating the birthday of a friend.

Yesterday afternoon, two helicopters raced to the scene when the boy drowned at Liquid Leisure near Datchet after becoming lost for an hour.

Lifeguards who were in tears lay wreaths at Liquid Leisure this morning when the location was still closed.

As guards appealed for visitors’ goggles to search underwater, desperate onlookers shouted the child’s name and dove into a lake by the park in an effort to find her.

When lifeguards realised not everyone had returned at the end of the session, according to a guest who chose to remain anonymous, they raced into the changing rooms.

According to the woman who spoke to MailOnline, “We witnessed them frantically tipping over inflatables and disassembling the ninja course, but at that time we were not told what was occurring which sparked bewilderment for pretty much everyone there.”

“Then all of a sudden, police, firefighters, and paramedics showed up at the scene.”

When the child was ultimately located at 5.10 p.m., Thames Valley Police had been contacted around 3.55 p.m.

She died suddenly after being taken to Wexham Park hospital.

Police are still looking into her death, which is being treated as unexplained.

The relatives of the girl has been notified.

Just before noon, Thames Valley Police informed MailOnline that the inquiry had not changed.

The identity of the kid will be made public during the inquest, the date of which has not yet been set, according to the Berkshire Coroners’ Office.

Superintendent Michael Greenwood, the local police area commander for Windsor and Maidenhead, said last night: “My sympathies are with the family and friends of the girl who has passed away as a result of this awful incident.”

We are just starting our investigation into this occurrence to fully grasp the circumstances.

For everyone involved, this has been a very stressful and upsetting event.

I am aware that numerous bystanders went into the lake soon after the girl got into trouble, but they were unable to find her.

“I want to praise them for their bravery and courage.”

According to one witness, the youngster was celebrating her birthday with several friends at Liquid Leisure when she submerged.

She told Sky News that the moment the child “didn’t come back up” from the water, lifeguards were called.

The mother, who wished to remain unnamed, said: “At that point, the lifeguards ran over.”

She attended a girl’s birthday party with her friends. Speaking to the birthday group was my daughter.

Sarah Wooster told the MailOnline that she and her children were at Liquid Leisure today when the event occurred and that one of them was in the water.

When it happened, my kid was in the water.

“I feel terribly shaken,” you say.

The public was instructed to call the girl’s name near the beach in case she had emerged from the sea, but no one responded.

The waterpark is about 10 minutes from Heathrow airport and about 20 miles from central London.

Yesterday, Liquid Leisure posted a statement about the incident on both Facebook and Instagram.

It read: “A very regrettable and tragic incident occurred at Liquid Leisure Windsor on Saturday, August 6th.

“The family, friends, and everyone affected by this terribly unfortunate and upsetting tragedy are in our thoughts and prayers.”

‘As Thames Valley Police are still conducting their investigation, it would not be appropriate for us to make any other comments. Nevertheless, we will continue to fully support and help them as they proceed.
