Ghostwriter exposes Australian assignment-buying scam

After completing hundreds of projects for students at prestigious Australian colleges, a ghostwriter revealed a massive academic fraud network.

He used the moniker “The Kenyan” and prepared papers for struggling overseas students for as low as $149 ($100) per 1,000 words while working for the Chinese business Assignment Joy.

The “academic writer” called the Australian educational system a “sham” and expressed worry about certain medical students who never turned in an assignment for credit.

“Your mind would be blown if you had seen what I had seen,” I said. I now see that the educational system is nothing more than a fraud,’ he told The Australian.

I’ve worked with several students from their first year, doing all of their assignments up to graduation, ensuring that they pass and get all of the grades.

The medical students who haven’t completed even one assignment since their first day worry me, they say.

According to “The Kenyan,” cashed-up Chinese international students own 60% of the market for bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fields including nursing, health science, education, psychology, and business administration.

The University of Sydney, the University of Melbourne, and the University of Queensland all had fraudulent assignments made for their students, according to files acquired by The Australian.

The University of South Australia, Macquarie University, Torrens University, and a number of TAFEs were among the others.

Due to their cheap labour expenses and English fluency, thousands of workers are purportedly hired by Assignment Joy across Kenya and South Africa, with ‘The Kenyan’ personally knowing roughly 50 authors in his sector.

According to the company’s website, Assignment Joy offers university students in Canada, the US, New Zealand, Australia, and Britain an “essay writing service.”

According to the website, “We provide essay writing and essay polishing coaching, both of which support passing guarantees.”

“A decent paper is often the difference between failure and success, thus choice is more important than hard effort,”

The business, which claims to have its headquarters in Sydney and has an office address in Jiangsu, north of Shanghai, also provides “Australian thesis writing,” with prices determined by the grade level.

Students who are satisfied with a C grade paper will pay $30 every 250 words, while those who want an “A grade PhD” will pay $60. Pricing varies according to the level of difficulty, the deadlines, and the course’s focus.

Assignment The degree of participation by Joy authors varied; some sent emails to students with course materials, required reading lists, and assignment rubrics.

Other students provided the ghostwriter access to their university accounts, enabling them to manage the submission of all homework and assignments for the whole course.

One ghostwriter got into the student’s online portal for an assignment for Diet and Nutrition for Health and Sport at the University of Sydney after being escorted through the security verification using the Chinese messaging app WeChat.

In order to “explain the energy needs of a top-level athlete,” the ghostwriter downloaded information using “comparison data on the typical Australian and the elite athlete.”

The student was charged US$133 by Assignment Joy for the 2,500-word paper, which was sent through email the following day.

According to the University of Sydney, contract cheating firms have been more active since 2019 and the university is making great efforts to “safeguard the integrity of its educational programs.”

The statement said, “We are very troubled by the blatant actions of contract cheating services that affect colleges all over the world.”

In response, we created a multifaceted approach, which we continue to modify as the danger changes.

We take all claims of academic dishonesty seriously and investigate any instance that is brought to our notice.

According to the institution, the registrar was sent all incidents of contract cheating, which is prohibited under Australian law, for internal and external inquiry.

Students who were the targets of extortion or other “scrupulous behaviour” by ghostwriters faced penalties ranging from suspension to expulsion while receiving assistance.

While the vast majority of our students are attentive and honest, the institution said, “We deal with the tiny fraction of our students who get connected with cheats.

We inform them of the dangers to their education, reputation, and general well-being and assist them in removing themselves from such influences.
