According to Yuguda, during his tenure as the Chairman of the Sub-committee on Subsidy under the Goodluck Jonathan government in 2009, the national oil company paid subsidies for non-existent pipelines.

Yuguda voiced these allegations during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, June 26, 2023.

His revelation raises concerns about the transparency and accountability within the NNPC regarding fuel subsidy payments.

The former governor further disclosed that his committee had submitted a report to President Jonathan, detailing the irregularities and discrepancies surrounding the subsidy payments.

However, no substantial action was taken on the investigation, leaving the matter unresolved.

He also pointed out that President Muhammadu Buhari, who succeeded Jonathan, failed to address the expose either.

In addition, Yuguda revealed that a former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, had commissioned chartered accountants to probe the subsidy claims.

Their findings indicated that an astonishing $2 billion had been spent on fuel subsidies, raising further questions about the mismanagement of funds in this regard.
