On Monday, Prince George and Princess Charlotte arrived at Westminster Abbey behind the funeral procession for Queen Elizabeth.
George, 9 years old, and Charlotte, 7 years old, accompanied their parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and other members of the royal family as they followed the monarch’s coffin to Westminster Abbey.
They were the only great-grandchildren listed on the Order of Service, which Buckingham Palace issued to Insider prior to the service. Their younger brother, Prince Louis (4 years old), was absent.

The royal writer for The Telegraph, Victoria Ward, reports that Prince William and Kate Middleton considered “very carefully” whether or not to include their eldest children in the parade. Ward writes that George and Charlotte referred to the late monarch as “Gan Gan.”
Unnamed sources informed Mail Online that the decision to include the children was a “collective family choice.”
“As parents, they have certainly given careful consideration to whether or not their children should accompany them,” a source told the publication. Obviously, Louis is too young, but George and Charlotte are deemed capable.
Images of the young royals going behind the coffin resemble those of Prince William and Prince Harry walking behind Princess Diana’s funeral in 1997. The brothers were 15 and 12 years old when their mother passed away.
George and Charlotte will also attend the committal service in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, which will take place on Monday following the funeral.
