Fugitive tiger from Edenvale has been apprehended

Monday saw the capture of a nine-month-old female tiger claimed to have been spotted in Edenvale, east of Johannesburg.

Various Units, according to the Suburban Control Centre, assisted in locating and capturing the Tiger in Edenvale. The animal has been anesthetized and transported to a sanctuary.

The tiger’s owner is currently unknown.

Given that GDARD and the Ekurhuleni municipality are responsible for enforcing the legislation that allows these dangerous animals to be kept in captivity, the National Council of SPCA stated that they must assume some form of accountability and responsibility for the welfare of the animal/s and the residents.

Sheba, an eight-year-old female tiger, escaped her enclosure on a smallholding south of Johannesburg earlier this month.

Sheba was eventually located and euthanized for the community’s safety.

Sheba had attacked and murdered a man, two dogs, and a pig.
