French town collapses, missing doctor

Saturday, two buildings collapsed in the northern French city of Lille, prompting rescue crews to dig amid the rubble for a missing doctor.

In a transmission transmitted by the CODIS emergency operations center, Lieutenant Colonel Stephane Beauventre of the fire department stated, “We are almost convinced that this person is buried in the wreckage.”

“His phone is unanswered, his car is parked, and he has not picked up his duty schedule,” he continued.

Saturday, two small, adjacent homes fell on a city-center shopping strip.

Initially, it appeared that the collapses had not resulted in any casualties. Police stated that the residences were evacuated overnight as a precaution after a homeowner reported that one of the walls was “warped.”

Saturday, officials inspected surrounding homes for cracks and gas leaks following the collapse.

“We heard a noise for a few seconds, initially very gently. We believed the scaffolding had collapsed “AFP was informed by Ludovic Ficher, 30, who works in an adjacent building.

“When we saw the entire structure was crumbling, we all fled,” he added. I was terrified to death.

Lille is situated in the far northeast corner of France, close to the border with Belgium.
