Pearl Carpenter, age 93, shattered her hip when she was struck by another senior citizen while out shopping.

The suspect is claimed to have fled the scene as Mrs. Carpenter was brought to the hospital by a staff member after being advised they would have to wait for an ambulance for eight hours.

According to her son, she had surgery while medical personnel feared she might not survive.
