Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele says, “The pressure is on.”

On Sunday, the under-pressure Kaizer Chiefs will travel to Moses Mabhida Stadium to face AmaZulu in the second leg of their MTN8 semi-final match.

Chiefs have lost their previous two Premiership matches, surrendering four goals in the process. As a result, a portion of the club’s fans have reached their limit of patience with head coach Arthur Zwane.

Former Amakhosi player Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who is now playing for their next opponents AmaZulu, claimed that he expects the pressure from Chiefs fans to work in Usuthu’s favor prior to their match in Durban.

“I am aware that the pressure will be immense on Sunday, as their fans expect them to come in and win the game, which is advantageous for us. Mphahlele stated, “I’m aware of how intense the pressure is at Chiefs, and I’m hoping that it impacts them so that we can win the game.”

The 32-year-old defender, who spent six years with the Naturena club, has cautioned his teammates against adopting the incorrect strategy against the struggling Chiefs.

“They (Chiefs) are capable of delivering great performances on any given day, and they are capable of damaging any team, so we can never take them lightly due to their recent performance, so we’ll have to bring our A-game,” he stated.

The KwaZulu-Natal club is now commemorating 90 years of existence, and Mphahlele believes that AmaZulu have earned the right to sit at the same table as the other clubs; winning the MTN8 will further strengthen this concept.

Mphahlele stated, “AmaZulu deserves to be in the finals, they deserve to be among the top three teams in the country, and we’ve demonstrated with the Black Label Cup that we’re there, so now it’s up to us to prove that we’re there in terms of finals and trophies.”
