Former friend leaves couple’s home unkept

A couple is devastated to learn that a former friend they were trying to help has left their house in the condition of a landfill.

After deciding to relocate interstate in 2019, Andrew Robson and his partner Jay Holtz extended an invitation to Emily, a struggling single mother of three children, to move in to their Point Cook home in Melbourne’s west.

But when the couple came back three years later, they found the house in a terrible state, full of trash, bugs, and animal waste, with the mother nowhere to be found.

The couple described it as “heartbreaking” to witness their 12-year home being turned into a “horror show.”

According to Mr. Robson’s GoFundMe page, “What we found of the beautiful home we remembered is nothing more than an absolute horror show.”

There are drawings on every wall, broken furniture throughout, and bodily fluids and trash all over.

Emily has since fled to the hills, leaving us with this shattered memory and broken hearts.

The couple revealed the extent of the damage in a video that went viral last week on Mr. Robson’s social media.

Broken mattresses and bed frames could be seen among the wreckage, which was littered throughout the rooms and the hallways.

On the floors of the bedrooms, there were pizza boxes and McDonald’s wrappers, and there was writing written on the walls, along with toys and children’s clothing.

The smell of feces throughout the house made Mr. Robson queasy, and in some areas the floor was not even visible.

He said, “A woman was raising her three children in such complete chaos and contempt.”

Before he and Mr. Robson moved there under an unofficial lease arrangement for an additional two years, Mr. Holtz and his family had leased the house for ten years.

However, they later decided they needed a change of scenery and offered to lease the house to Emily while they were abroad.

The couple claimed that after becoming friends with her in 2018, when she was having difficulty finding housing, they permitted her to move in to the residence without posting a bail.

“What great timing! The owner of the property requested us to find someone to take over. We gave Emily the chance to come in and take over since she was having trouble finding housing for herself and her children, Mr. Robson said.

But when the couple left for Queensland, she kept asking for money, which was a red flag that something was wrong.

According to Mr. Robson, she often asked them to pay her rent and her children’s tuition.

We did all we could to keep her going, Mr. Robson added.

During her tenure, they even paid for cleaners to come in before home inspections, until she began making up reasons to skip the visits entirely.

“We gave her a respite at that period,” the pair claimed. “She had Covid, the kids had Covid, many times, lice, and her father died away, which we felt horrible about.”

Everything came to a head when the landlord made the decision to evict the renter and gave her three months to leave the property.

But by October, Emily was still living there and had stopped paying rent, stating she was afraid for her and her kids.

Last month, a real estate agent took charge of the issue after learning via an unidentified caller that she had left the residence.

When the couple returned to the house, they saw that it was now a large tip. They were accountable for the disgusting situation since they had rented the house.

The mother is reportedly living with relatives in the Blue Mountains, but the duo has given up looking for her and has begun a massive clean-up, according to 7News.

On Wednesday, the two had completed removing all the carpet and were about to begin painting one of the rooms.

A GoFundMe campaign has been created to raise money for the significant project, which might cost up to $10,000.
