A Sydney bar owner was threatened by former Australian Test cricketer Stuart MacGill and a friend early this year. A court has been informed.

On February 1 of this year, MacGill, 51, is charged with stalking and verbally threatening Samantha Ford while she was strolling down Kent Street in Sydney’s business district and afterwards at the Captain Cook Hotel.

Ryan Entwistle spoke at the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday, claiming to have been outside the Lord Nelson Hotel enjoying a drink with friends when the Kent Street incident occurred.

The only words he heard were “stick up your ass” or “stick it up your ass,” which he described as being shouted in a one-sided manner and at a relatively loud volume.

He claimed that they were speaking to her in an aggressive and threatening manner.

The court was informed that Ms. Ford later spoke with Mr. Entwistle and his companions and informed them that either MacGill or his friend Stephen Michael Kerlin was her ex-partner or was acquainted with her ex-partner.

By telling authorities on February 18 that he had filed his own police charges regarding Ms. Ford, MacGill has refuted claims that he or his associate Stephen Kerlin pursued or threatened her.

He alleged in the audiotape of his police interview, which was played in court, that Ms. Ford had followed him and his partner Maria O’Meagher in his van while hiring photographer Jamie Fawcett to snap images.

He reported her to the police, saying, “She followed us, she hounded us for more than a year, and I really think that she’s insane.”

“She’s a very disturbing woman, and to be honest, I think she’s disturbed.”

Additionally, he stated that he would refrain from commenting on a statement made by Ms. Ford “because I believe her to be insane.”

MacGill asserted that he never used intimidation against Ms. Ford, claiming that she followed them along the road and wouldn’t go away.

She followed them into the Captain Cook Hotel, but they kindly asked her to leave, according to what was reported to the authorities.

MacGill can be seen pointing his finger at Ms. Ford and leaning toward her in the surveillance video taken inside the bar. As the argument went on, the former spin bowler also dialled 911.

MacGill stated during his police interview that he had no desire to be anywhere near Ms. Ford.

I have nothing to say to the woman at all, I assure you.

I don’t think there’s any reason why I would want to be in the same room with her, and I have no interest in doing so.

In court on Thursday, it was revealed that Kerlin had admitted guilt to two counts of stalking, intimidation, and violating an AVO. On August 24, he will return for sentencing.

Magistrate Christine Haskett’s hearing is still ongoing.
