A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, has assumed the position of National Security Adviser (NSA).
The retired Assistant Inspector General of Police took over from the immediate past NSA, Maj Gen. Babagana Monguno (Rtd.), in a brief ceremony held at the NSA Office on Monday.
Promising to Tackle Insecurity
In his inaugural speech, Ribadu made a commitment to ensure the security of the nation and combat various forms of criminal activities such as terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.
He emphasized the need to restore peace, order, and the rule of law in the country.
Ribadu expressed his belief that Nigeria should enjoy the same level of peace and security as other nations in the world.
Building on Previous Efforts and Seeking Support
Ribadu acknowledged that securing the nation is an ongoing process.
He pledged to review and build upon the work that has been done so far.
The new NSA stressed the importance of the collective responsibility of all Nigerians and friends of Nigeria in achieving the goal of a secure country.
