Florida school employee charged 10-year-old student with groping

The mental health counselor at an elementary school in Florida reportedly filed charges against a 10-year-old she told police had molested her.

According to USA Today, the counselor at Holly Hill School in Volusia County, Florida made the allegation in a police report filed with the Holly Hills Police Department.

According to USA Today, the youngster was given a 10-day punishment, and Monday will be their first day back at school.

The legal guardian of the student, the student’s grandmother Lakesha Hollins, stated that the student done nothing wrong, according to USA Today. She expressed disagreement with the district’s decision to suspend the student and the counselor’s choice to seek charges.

Hollins told USA Today, “We’re talking about a 10-year-old being expelled from school for what could have been an accident.”

USA Today said that the school sent Hollins a letter stating that the youngster allegedly hugged the counselor as the class returned from lunch.

According to USA Today, “(The counselor) turned sideways to administer a side hug,” the article reads. ” (The student) wrapped his left arm around her shoulder and then grabbed her left breast with his right hand, requiring her to grab his wrist and remove his hand.”

The police report, according to USA Today, indicates that the student “disrespectfully cupped her left breast” and that she had to “forcibly withdraw his hand.”

Hollins told USA Today that the counselor was looking away and possibly speaking with another individual during the embrace.

“My grandson stated that during the hug, she grabbed his hand and held it up, and he didn’t know why she did it,” Hollins told USA Today. “He stated that she released his hand before returning to his seat and engaging in conversation with other kids. They were discussing football.”

According to the police report, the primary instructor in the classroom was not present during the embrace.

Hollins told USA Today that there are no witnesses, only her word against his. He’s only ten.
