Fight on the school playground at Sydney’s Tuuramurra High School

The moment a youngster is strangled in a savage assault is captured on tape during a horrible altercation between two young children in their school playground.

Two lads from Turramurra High School on Sydney’s upper north shore are seen verbally abusing each other in the video posted on Reddit on Saturday before engaging in a violent battle that leaves them both on the ground.

As bystanders swarm the courtyard of the school, the two guys are seen pacing back and forth after dumping their bags on the ground.

‘You think you’re f***ing big, accept that you’re small,’ the taller student is heard insulting the other student.

An onlooker is heard yelling ‘someone do something’ before the student in the sports uniform shoves the taller boy.

The boys trade punches until the smaller student, who other children claim is trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, tackles him to the ground.

The smaller student is then seen placing his rival in a chokehold while two teachers run to stop the fight.

The teachers are heard yelling ‘guys, stop’ as the student is choked on the ground.

It’s unclear who started the fight or what happened off camera, and Daily Mail Australia is not suggesting either party is to blame.

Reddit users debated over who they believed instigated the fight with many commenting the students should have walked away.

‘All the taller kid had to do was turn and walk away, they clearly both wanted a fight,’ one user wrote.

‘If BJJ [Brazilian jiu-jitsu] kid is a true martial artist, he would have walked away,’ another user commented.

‘Ultimately we’re not sure of the context prior to the video… but you should never instigate fights and walk away until you actually need to defend yourself,’ a third chimed.

Other users argued the fight could have been worse as the student with martial arts training had opportunities to break the other student’s arm.

‘Kid had about 3 different chances for an armbar,’ one user wrote.

‘BJJ kid could’ve broke that kids arm in an instant. He’s lucky he didn’t go for the armbar instead,’ another user commented.

A third user wrote: ‘He seems to naturally go in for an arm lock and then repositions for the choke. The bigger kids is lucky to have just gotten knocked out and not a snapped arm.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Turramurra High School and NSW Department of Education for comment.
