FBI warns of a dirty bomb threat and civil war calls

After officials searched Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, the FBI issued a warning about a threat of a dirty bomb and an increase in calls for civil war.

Following the early-morning search last week, the Bureau said in a leaked document that they had seen an increase in violent threats on social media.

The ominous note claimed there would be an “armed rebellion” and that thugs would plant a dirty bomb in front of the agency’s headquarters.

In the wake of the controversy, Pennsylvania House GOP Representative Brian Fitzpatrick said he was informed that his life was in danger.

The former FBI agent claimed that “some of the same people” who regularly disparage federal law enforcement had threatened him.

Agents searched Trump’s resort last Monday morning in accordance with a search warrant related to secret papers the National Archives was looking for.

The warrant was released in a settlement between the former president’s attorneys and the Justice Department in response to growing calls for its release.

the agencies “have observed an increase in violent threats posted on social media against federal officials and facilities, including a threat to place a so-called dirty bomb in front of FBI Headquarters and issuing general calls for “civil war” and “armed rebellion,” according to the chilling memo obtained by CBS News.

The federal judge who granted the search warrant in Palm Beach, as well as other law enforcement and government officials, have been the targets of several stated threats and requests for their targeted murder, according to the report.

It also draws attention to a recent event in which a gun-toting Navy veteran attempted to break into the FBI’s Cincinnati office and was fatally shot by authorities after a standoff.

Fitzpatrick, a former FBI agent, claimed on CBS News’ Face The Nation that “some of the same folks” who are disparaging federal law enforcement after the raid had threatened him.

In addition, he advised senators from both parties to “wait for judgement and not get ahead of yourselves” when deciding whether the records taken from Mar-a-Lago by federal agents proved Trump was guilty of any crimes.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and FBI recently issued a notice warning of an increase in “violent threats” against federal law enforcement in the weeks following the raid, which the former bureau officer seemed to be most concerned about.

I’ve spoken to a few of my coworkers lately, Margaret, to make sure they’re all right. Fitzpatrick said. Every leader and an elected person should consider the impact of their remarks.

When asked if Trump was included, the representative said yes.

“I believe that everyone should be pleading for calm, everywhere.”

And whether they are local, state, or federal law enforcement, Fitzpatrick continued, everyone must respect them.

The bureau has informed me that some of these same persons have recently threatened to kill me. Violence is never the solution to anything, it is said.

He expressed concern that if “disrespect” for American institutions keeps increasing, the country’s democracy could “become unravelled.”

“A lot of that begins with the language we’re employing,” Therefore, I implore all of my colleagues – and we’ve seen disrespect across the political spectrum – as I did with local law enforcement, the Supreme Court, and now federal law enforcement. Nothing is acceptable. Nothing of it.

The execution of a search warrant, in this case, was dynamic, but there is a continuum of ways to obtain evidence, ranging from the passive serve of a subpoena with a future production date.

There are many options available to you in the interim, including presenting a prompt subpoena.

The former FBI agent remarked, “At the door, you don’t enter the premises, but you demand quick production than in there.”

We are unsure of what was appropriate, justifiable, and what wasn’t. And for that reason, this affidavit is so crucial.

‘Understand the weight of your words and support law enforcement no matter what,’ he advised lawmakers in his closing statement.

The National Archives has a search warrant for Trump’s resort that was put into action by the FBI early on Monday.

The warrant was revealed in a compromise between Trump’s attorneys and the Justice Department after increasing demand to make it public.

On Thursday, Attorney General Merrick Garland disclosed that he had personally approved the application for a warrant, which a federal judge had later approved.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of Trump’s loudest supporters in Congress, added fuel to the fire by drafting articles of impeachment against Garland and charging him with using the DOJ as a weapon.

The House of Representatives, which is controlled by Democrats, is unlikely to approve the mostly symbolic measure.

However, other Republican politicians have demanded the release of the document that was used to secure the warrant while urging their base to reserve judgement.

That would comprise fresh details such as the data that was initially utilised to get the order.
