Father is devastated as 11-year-old son fights for life in ICU

A father is devastated as his 11-year-old son, Rhyle, fights for his life in intensive care after being struck by a train on his way to school. Marvin Abiado begged his son to keep fighting and stay with him. Rhyle was hit by a train at Tambelin Railway Station in Evanston Gardens, Adelaide, on Tuesday morning. The family is anxiously awaiting the results of a brain scan.

Rhyle suffered critical injuries, including a head laceration and was on the tracks for about 18 minutes before emergency services arrived. The Year 7 student attended Trinity College, where fees cost up to $7,000 a year, and is reportedly in stable condition at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Mr Abiado expressed his gratitude to those who helped his son at the scene, including strangers, classmates, and teachers at Trinity College. He also thanked an off-duty nurse who was driving her children to school and was one of the first people to assist Rhyle.

Witnesses at the scene described train passengers panicking when the boy was hit, and one witness mentioned that Rhyle was crossing the tracks with his friends when the incident occurred.

Nick Hately, head of Trinity College, praised the actions of the passersby who helped Rhyle and called for safety upgrades to Tambelin Station.

The family is still uncertain about the circumstances of the incident and believes that it may have been preventable. Mr Abiado thinks that the pedestrian crossing at the station could be made safer, and he expressed concern that the situation could have been avoided. He said that Rhyle was passionate about animals, especially farm animals, and that is why they chose Trinity College.

Mr Abiado’s wife called him to tell him that Rhyle had been struck by a train and that they had to go to the hospital. He said that this was an agonizing moment for him, and he hopes that Rhyle recovers soon. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the police.
