Family of Chris Dawson admits that they will “never know” where Lynette is

The family of Lynette Simms has accepted the idea that they will never learn where she is buried.

Chris Dawson was sentenced to 24 years in prison for his wife Lynette's murder on Friday, with a non-parole period of 18 years
Friday afternoon, Chris Dawson was sentenced to at least 18 years in prison for the 1982 murder of his wife, who vanished from their home in Sydney’s northern beaches.

However, various concerns remain regarding the infamous cold case.

During his sentencing remarks, Justice Ian Harrison stated that it was impossible to verify if Dawson had assistance in the murder of Lynette, the mother of two of his children, and that Lynette’s last resting place remained unknown.

Former teacher and rugby league player maintains his innocence and refuses to disclose Lynette’s burial location.

Friday, Chris Dawson was sentenced to 24 years in jail for the murder of his wife Lynette, with an 18-year non-parole period.

Lynette´s niece, Renee Simms, tld the Today Show the fact Dawson had not revealed where Lynette´s final resting place is was 'frustrating'. 'We will never know where she is'
Friday sees the arrival of Lynette Simms (previously Dawsonrelatives )’s at the NSW Supreme Court.

Renee Simms, Lynette’s niece, stated on the Today Show that it was “frustrating” that Dawson had not disclosed Lynette’s ultimate resting place.

We will never know her location.

Renee Simms, Lynette’s niece, stated that Chris’ behavior during the trial made it unsurprising that he had pledged to fight the conviction and had not disclosed the location of Lynette’s grave.

“It’s difficult, but it’s something we have to accept,” Renee Simms said on Saturday’s Today Show.

We will never discover her whereabouts.

After being found guilty in August, Dawson was sentenced on Friday to 24 years in jail with an 18-year non-parole period; he will not be eligible for release until August 2040.

Dawson, 74, will undoubtedly die in prison and, given his cognitive and physical degeneration, will become’severely incapacitated’ before then, according to Justice Harrison.

Renee Simms stated of Dawson’s sentencing, “We had no expectations.”

“We were just pleased with the guilty finding, knowing that Lyn’s name had been vindicated and that it was public knowledge that Chris had been found guilty of her murder.” That was a major victory for us.

I believe the fact was that he was unlikely to survive whatever sentence he received.

We did not have a certain number in mind, but the figure provided seems reasonable.

Prior to Friday, Lynette was often known as Lynette Dawson, but her brother Greg requested that she be referred to by her maiden name, Lynette Simms, when he left her sentencing.

Renee, daughter of Greg Simms, stated that it was the family’s attempt to’reclaim’ Lynette.

Renee Simms stated, “Closure is a weird term when it comes to something like this because I don’t think you ever get closure when a loved one simply vanishes off the face of the world.”

But it’s clearly the end of a chapter for us and something we’ve worked on for a very long time.

When asked about her family’s future move, Renee responded, ‘Hopefully, we’ll be able to return to privacy.

Nobody finds being in the public glare very pleasant. I believe we would just wish to return to a peaceful existence.
