Facebook and Instagram ban Andrew Tate, but not TikTok

Andrew Tate, a 35-year-old “toxic influencer,” has been barred from Facebook and Instagram after receiving criticism for his misogynistic content.

The two social media platforms’ owner, Meta, claimed that the controversial influencer had broken its rules.

The former Big Brother star amassed a fortune in the millions by using the video-sharing app TikTok to spread his influence.

Over 11.6 billion people have seen videos on the app with the hashtag Andrew Tate, but others have criticised the material for encouraging “extreme sexism” and having the potential to “radicalise” young males.

The former kickboxer was banned off Meta’s platform for breaking the company’s regulations regarding harmful organisations and people, but the company gave no additional information when asked by the BBC.

He had 4.7 million Instagram followers at the time of his deactivation, a significant increase from the roughly one million followers he had in June, just two months before.

Tate has not yet responded to the suspension.

He had already been expelled from Twitter for his comments that rape victims “must bear some responsibility.”

The 35-year-old millionaire gives advice in one video to men who have been accused of infidelity by their partners, telling them to “knock out the machete, boom in her face, and grasp her by the neck.” Be quiet, b*tch.

Police in Romania started looking into the sexist TikToker for rape and people trafficking in April of this year after receiving a complaint from a lady who had lived with him there.

According to TikTok, it has been taking legal action against accounts and videos that are considered to be in violation of its community standards.

A representative for TikTok stated: “Misogyny is a horrible ideology and is not accepted on TikTok.”

Since we have been taking down objectionable content for many weeks, the fact that other platforms are also taking action against this person is heartening.
