Experts baffled by giant 30ft-wide sinkhole crater in South Wales, feets from a busy road 

A giant sinkhole crater in South Wales has left experts puzzled and locals speculating about possible causes, including old mining works and even a UFO landing.

The 30ft-wide and 9ft-deep hole was discovered by walkers near a busy road leading to a house estate over a month ago. Council officials in Caerphilly were called in to investigate, and a coal authority spokesman said that they responded after being alerted by the council.

While locals initially feared a meteor strike or UFO landing, officials are still investigating the cause, with some suspecting it could be due to old mine workings.

The area has been fenced off to ensure safety, and further investigations will be carried out.
