Ex-boyfriend shoots mother of three 14 times before children interfere

In front of their children, who intervened to stop their father from murdering the mother-of-three, the ex-boyfriend shot her at least 14 times.

On July 23, following an apparent altercation, Nikeya Shumake, 32, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was pursued down by her ex-boyfriend Askia Strong, also 32, and shot more than a dozen times.

Strong, who is still at large and is sought for attempted murder, is thought to be staying with relatives in Chicago, Illinois, or Indiana.

They have three children together—Jermiyah, 12; Askia Jr., 5; and Zamiyah, 2—and have been married for 17 years.

Strong can be seen closely pursuing the woman in security video as her legs give out and she collapses to the ground.

The shaky video shows her writhing on the ground as he shoots at her nonstop.

She told CBS 58, “He just continued firing, and I just went to the ground and laid there and let him keep shooting until he was done.”

“I want the whole video to be shown so people can understand from my point of view and from my kids’ point of view,” the speaker says.

Her kids may be seen rushing toward her a little while afterwards. While the others scream and dance about, pleading with their father to stop, one of them seems to hurl something at him.

She said, “My oldest,” in a furious tone. Shumake stated in a voice choked with sorrow, “She simply wanted it to end.

He pretends to flee before returning and shooting Shumake many times.

The mother seems to stand up after he made his exit as if she hadn’t even been shot. She eventually managed to “focus” her eyes and “get up a little bit.”

She told the site, “Then I was like, “Oh I can stand up,” so I just stood up all the way.”

She referred to herself as a “hero” for being able to take off and said that it was “win for me from that moment on.”

Pushing her clothes out of the way, Shumake would approach her neighbor’s vehicle and open the door while pleading with her to “please, just take me” to the hospital.

Shumake claims that the neighbor saw the whole horrible incident.

Shumake said that her kids had seen the criminal, who had been in and out of prison for years, abuse her for a number of days before the shooting.

She acknowledged that he had previously “pulled a pistol out, but didn’t use it.”

He told CBS 58, “He was just calling me dumb and things.”

The mother-of-three said she made his life “easier” and only made her decision to put herself first a few days before the shooting.

I made his life so simple that he was unable to see that things were going to turn difficult. I desired me. I didn’t want to consider his desires constantly.

I want to think about myself and my thoughts and whether I am making the correct decision or him happy,’ she told CBS 58.

Strong allegedly harassed his ex-girlfriend on social media after the shooting, but she insists she is not scared.

“Why would I want to be afraid?

God does not want you to be afraid. She told the newspaper, “He didn’t let me live to live in dread.

She is now pleading with the populace to “turn him in.”

Domestic abuse cases are more common in Wisconsin, and Shumake’s is just one of them.

According to the End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin, there were 80 murders involving domestic abuse in the state last year. A third of the incidents took place in Milwaukee, and many of the victims were black women.
