Evil mobster dies after long-term illness, taking criminal secrets with him

A notorious Irish mob boss died in a Welsh hospital at the age of 41 following a prolonged illness.

Since 2021, Cornelius Price had been afflicted with limbic encephalitis, a disorder in which a portion of the brain gets inflamed.

He had been on trial in the United Kingdom for kidnapping and blackmail when he fell severely ill and was unable to attend court.

Price was the commander of a deadly, County Meath-based criminal group.

Gardai in Ireland have been told about Price’s death; they believe he may have buried information about the murder of a couple expecting a child eight years ago.

The Irish Mirror disclosed for the first time that Gardai believe Price was personally responsible for the brutal killings of Willie Maughan, 34, and his pregnant girlfriend Ana Varslavane, 21, on April 14, 2015.

In a horrifying case, it is thought that Price ordered their murders and the subsequent disposal of their bodies.

It is suspected that the couple was slain on Price’s strongly secured Gormanstown complex before their bodies were incinerated.

The unfortunate couple’s bodies have never been located, and the evil Price has taken any secrets he may have had concerning their killings to his grave.

Price allegedly boasted regularly about the couple’s murder and stated that their bodies would never be located.

It is suspected that the vile mobster ordered the murder of the pair in a despicable effort to protect his drug empire.

Willie and his fiancée were allegedly murdered on Price’s instructions because Willie knew too much about the death of Benny Whitehouse.

In a recent declaration submitted with the High Court as part of a Criminal Assets Bureau case against mobster Owen Maguire and his brother Brendan, a Garda Detective Inspector stated, “I believe members of the Price-Maguire OCG were responsible for the double homicide.

William and Anastasija were last seen alive at a Mr. Price-owned property.

Price’s group is also implicated in the September 2014 shooting death of a 36-year-old man named Whitehouse.

Whitehouse was assassinated in Clonard Street, Balbriggan, as a result of a separate feud shortly after dropping his child off at school.

During a two-month trial at Wood Green Crown Court in London, Price’s close accomplice Darren McClean was convicted guilty last month of his role in the kidnapping and £330k blackmail conspiracy for which Price was on trial.

Previously, the 37-year-old was exonerated of two counts of kidnapping.

Following a lengthy trial, just one of five suspected Price associates, McClean, was found guilty.

Mark Kavanagh, 34, of Drogheda, Danny Bridges, 41, of Stourport-on-Severn, Lisa Finnerty, 39, of Lancashire, and Quincey Bramble, 33, of East London were also found not guilty.

Price was accused in July 2020 with plotting to unjustly imprison and extort two individuals; however, his trial was postponed indefinitely due to his poor health.

Price had a long history of run-ins with the law; in January 2014, he drove directly towards a uniformed garda at excessive speed.

He was convicted of harming a garda at Balbriggan Garda Station in February 2017 and sentenced to three years in prison.
