Eskom has announced that various stages of load shedding will be implemented throughout the week with generation capacity shortages expected

Eskom has stated that load shedding in varying stages will be imposed throughout the week due to anticipated limitations in generator capacity.

Violent strikes at its power plants have made the power utility’s difficult situation even worse as it has been working to keep the lights on.

Load shedding will continue to be applied in stages as long as the generation capacity limitations last over the upcoming weeks.

The electricity generation system won’t fully recover to pre-strike levels for a few weeks, Eskom warns the public.

By Monday morning, Eskom had announced that it was currently operating without more than 21,000 MW of energy because of planned maintenance and malfunctions.

It is predicted that load shedding would progressively be reduced to Stage 2 by the weekend, depending on a number of factors, including the workforce’s ability to perform much-needed equipment repairs after returning to work completely.

Eskom assured that it will communicate any necessary modifications and put them into effect.

Stage 4 load shedding will be used on Monday until 4 p.m., and stage 6 will be used after that until 10 p.m.

Stage 4 load shedding will resume from 10 p.m. to midnight.

Stage 2 will be in effect on Tuesday from the wee hours of the morning until 5am.

Stage 4 will then be used until 4pm, stage 6 until 10pm, then stage 4 once again until midnight. Stage 4 will then be used again until 4pm.

In order to protect the national grid, load shedding is only used as a last resort, Eskom would like to remind the public.

So, we implore everyone in South Africa to continue using electricity sparingly, especially now that the power system is unclear.

Eskom expressed gratitude to all employees that reported for work and kept up their dedicated job despite exceptionally difficult circumstances.
