Moriarty stated that the nasty comments left her feeling “silenced” and “dehumanized.”
Something is being loaded.

Erin Moriarty has spoken out about feeling “dehumanized” after receiving harsh remarks about her appearance on social media from fans of “The Boys.”

Moriarty, who portrays the superhero Starlight in the popular Amazon series, posted photos of an article titled “#IStandWithStarlight? : The betrayal of Erin Moriarty by The Boys ‘fans’” on Instagram. The piece condemned the nasty words and “misogyny” Moriarty had received. Since the debut of the third season, this has escalated.

Moriarty accompanied her Instagram image with the following caption: “I do feel silenced. I do feel dehumanized. I do feel paralyzed. I’ve poured blood, sweat, and tears into this part (repeatedly), and I’ve grown UP in this character’s shoes (*emphasis on grown up – we adapt and progress both mentally and physically).”

She went on: “With that, I say: a) thank you to @butcherscanary b) this does crush my heart – I’ve opened up a vein for this part, and this kind of trolling is precisely what this role (Annie) would speak up against, and c) let’s not add to it. I will never knowingly (and ESPECIALLY) add to yours in a public forum.”

She concluded her message with the following: “This has only increased my empathy muscle, and to anybody who comes at me: I see you, I don’t hate you, I only sympathize and forgive.”

The Medium essay author with the moniker butcherscanary argued that Moriarty’s “objectification” was disproportionate to that of her co-stars and contradicts the ethos of the show because Moriarty’s character, Starlight, battles against being “silenced and sexualized.”

Moriarty also highlighted this aspect of the article in her Instagram story: “However, Annie is fictitious and Erin is not.”

“Boys” co-stars have gathered in support of Moriarty. Nate Mitchell, a Black Noir actor, reshared Moriarty’s article to his own narrative.

The actor who portrays Homelander in the show, Antony Starr, wrote: “I fully endorse you and what you’re saying here. Well said 😉 Your work on the show has always been outstanding, and you are stunning on the inside and out. Stay brilliant 😉 xo”

Jack Quaid, who portrays Hughie, Starlight’s lover, also stated: “Love you Erin. Everyone is here for you. You are such an extraordinary, talented force of nature, and I am so fortunate to meet you. Continue to shine bright. Let us handle the trolls. We are on your side.”
