An “All-American woman” from Kansas who transported her children to Syria, rose to the position of “Empress of ISIS,” and oversaw an all-female execution squad was given a 20-year jail term.
The maximum penalty was given to Allison Fluke-Ekren, 42, of Overbrook, who grew up on a farm and pleaded guilty to crimes related to her “terrorist crime spree.”
She was sentenced after hearing terrifying testimonies from her own children, who called Fluke-Ekren a “monster” who tormented them for sex.
Fluke-Ekren was a member of ISIS for more than eight years and traversed conflict areas in Libya, Iraq, and Syria.
In 2017, she assumed the identity of Umm Mohammed al-Amriki and progressed through the ranks of the terrorist organization to take command of an all-female battalion known as “Khatiba Nusaybah.”
Before sending the young ladies on assassination missions for ISIS, Fluke-Ekren taught them the use of AK-47s, grenades, and suicide belts.
At Fluke-Monday Ekren’s sentencing hearing in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, US Attorney Raj Parekh said that she “in effect became the queen of ISIS.”
Young girls were indoctrinated and taught to murder by this woman.
Leyla Ekren, her daughter, claimed her mother’s motivations were driven by a “desire for control and power” after she was married off to an IS warrior in Syria when she was only 13 years old.
Her daughter stated, “I want everyone to see what sort of a person mother was.”
She referred to her IS fighter-husband and added, “She abandoned me in Raqqa with my rapist.”
Her son Gabriel, who like his sister waived anonymity, said the following in a written statement to the court: “My mother is a monster who likes hurting children for sexual pleasure.”
“My mother is a monster incredibly talented at managing her emotions and using them to her benefit.”
“My mother is a monster without regard for her kids and without a justification for what she does.”
She is responsible for all of her children’s blood, misery, and anguish.
Prosecutors once revealed audio of telephone talks between Fluke-Ekren and her daughter that the FBI had recorded.
As the recordings were being read out, her daughter, who was in the audience gallery, covered her ears with her fingers.
Fluke-Ekren, whose real name is Allison Brooks, was raised in a “loving and stable environment” in Overbrook, Kansas, and was regarded as a “bright” student, according to the US attorney.
Nothing in her past can account for her behavior, Parekh added.
Fluke-Ekren joined the University of Kansas after divorcing her first husband, with whom she had two children. There, she married Volkan Ekren, a fellow student, and converted to Islam.
Later, she obtained a teaching credential from an Indiana institution.
Together, they had five kids, and they also adopted a youngster whose parents had died in Syria as suicide bombers.
As stated by the US attorney, “Fluke-tenacious Ekren’s drive to attain positions of authority and influence to instruct young women in extremist ideology and violence started” in Libya after the family relocated there from Egypt in 2008 and Egypt in 2011.
Prior to traveling overseas, the mother started sending her ex-husband letters and messages seeking more than $6,000 for the return of their two children, according to her former sister-in-law Amy Fluke, 49.
While residing in Syria, she also brutally mocked her ex-husband James Fluke by pretending that their daughter Alaina had passed away.
Earlier this year, James told DailyMail.com: “I hope they lock her up and toss away the key.”
For ten years, she abducted my children. She is deceptive. She has always been.
She has always desired attention. It is impossible to accurately convey how cunning she is.
In September 2012, when Ansar al-Sharia, an Islamic terrorist organization, assaulted the US embassy and CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya, murdering the US ambassador and three other Americans, Fluke-Ekren was present.
Ansar al-Sharia was helped by Fluke-Ekren, a native Arabic speaker, by “reviewing and summarizing the substance of stolen US government materials.”
The family went between Iraq, Turkey, and Syria after leaving Libya in late 2012 or early 2013. They were strongly engaged with IS and briefly resided in Mosul, the IS stronghold.
The commander of an IS sniper battalion, Fluke-second Ekren’s husband, died in 2015.
She then got married three more times, including to an IS drone specialist from Bangladesh and an IS military commander who was in charge of the IS defense of Raqqa in 2017; she also had four additional kids.
In the 1990s, Larry Miller, a science instructor at Fluke-school, Ekren’s once asked: “How can someone like Allison, an all-American girl, become a person who wants to go out and kill?”
Fluke-Ekren, who was visibly moved, admitted in court that she had given fighting training, but said that it had been exclusively for self-defense.
She said, “I’ve never fought myself.” “I never fired a shot or blasted a bullet,”
The assertion made by Fluke-Ekren that her second husband, who was of Turkish descent, had misled her was disproved.
Fluke-Ekren addressed the court while donning a dark green prison jacket and a black hijab, pleading with the judge for a “compassionate punishment” of just two years in jail.
I really regret my decisions, she said to the court. “To everybody who has been harmed by my acts, I humbly beg your pardon.”
