Emer-G-Med Paramedics responded to the scene of a shooting incident on Florida Road in the Morningside area

Paramedics from Emer-G-Med were called to the Florida Road gunshot scene in the Morningside neighborhood.

According to reports from the site, a man in his 30s suffered a gunshot wound to his arm. He was treated and stabilized there before being brought to a local hospital for more care.

The man is thought to have shot himself after attempting to rob a bystander of his cellphone at knifepoint. The South African Police Services were on the scene and will conduct the appropriate investigation as a result.
