After asserting that the nation should stay “neutral” in the conflict with Russia, Elon Musk got into a Twitter spat with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, to which a diplomat urged him to “f*** off.”
Following Russia’s aggressive invasion of Ukraine eight months ago, the Tesla CEO made a number of statements in which he claimed he merely want “peace” between the nations.
He contends that the peace accord has to acknowledge that Crimea, which Russia illegitimately acquired in 2014, is “officially a part of Russia.”
Since Russia invaded and held a referendum, the US and other allies have recognized Crimea as being a part of Ukraine.
The wealthiest man in the world recognized that the referendum’s validity was “questionable,” but promptly fired back that it should be overseen by the UN or another “trusted body.”
The billionaire Musk has faced intense criticism online for saying that his “peace” agreement is “very likely” to be the result and that it is “just a matter of how many die before then.”
Andrij Melnyk, the ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, attacked Musk online in response to his proposals, writing, “F*** off is my very civilized reaction to you.”

Musk suggested that elections in annexed territories be held again under UN supervision in a poll he launched on Twitter asking other users for their opinions.
In under four hours, more than a million people cast ballots, and the outcome was closer than in his peace accord poll, which received about two million votes in the same time frame.
After hundreds of people rejected his other proposals, he claimed that a reliable water supply for Crimea was to blame for the results’ tainted integrity.
In response to the tweets, President Volodymyr Zelensky published his own poll, which asked, “Which Elon Musk do you prefer more? either one who backs Russia or one who backs Ukraine.
One who favors Ukraine received the vast majority of the over one million responses.
Musk said to his followers that he thought nuclear war was “unlikely,” but “possible.”
