Elon Musk is looking for AI experts to create a rival AI for ChatGPT

According to a recent report, Elon Musk is seeking the help of artificial intelligence (AI) experts to create an alternative to OpenAI’s ChatGPT bot.

The tech billionaire believes the bot has gone “woke” and has approached AI researchers, including Igor Babuschkin, to work on a new AI-centered project that would feature a chatbot with fewer speech restrictions. The new chatbot could be integrated into Twitter, the social media company that Musk recently bought.

Musk cut ties with OpenAI in 2015, citing disagreements over the entity’s nonprofit status. He has been critical of OpenAI for filtering out harmful content from the data to make ChatGPT less violent, sexist, and racist.

Musk has hinted at the need for a chatbot that would rival ChatGPT as well as Microsoft’s chatbot. Bing, Microsoft’s chatbot, declined to tell a joke “in the style of Dave Chappelle” due to the comedian’s “offensive” and “insensitive” remarks about “certain groups of people.” Musk replied, “What we need is TruthGPT.”

He acquired Twitter for $44 billion with the aim of promoting unfettered speech and has unbanned several controversial figures since unveiling “Twitter 2.0,” including former President Donald Trump, author Jordan Peterson, and the satirical news site Babylon Bee.

Snapchat has also announced that it will be rolling out its own chatbot powered by ChatGPT. The “My AI” bot will be available to subscribers of Snapchat Plus’ $3.99 a month service initially, but Snap CEO Evan Spiegel said the goal is to eventually make the bot available to all of the app’s 750 million monthly users.
