Ekiti State has emerged the top performer in a women equality survey conducted by a United States of America

The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, a resource center situated in the United States of America, performed a survey on gender equality, and Ekiti State came out on top (GIWPS).

Based on data collected from the 36 States of the nation and the FCT, the Institute analyzed the roles played by women in fostering peace and expanding economies in the survey titled “Huge Disparities in Women’s Equality in Nigeria.”

According to the research, the southern region of the nation has the highest index scores, with Ekiti State dominating the sub-national performance index.

According to the survey report, which was downloaded from the Institute’s website, Ekiti State ranked first in terms of the representation of women in the legislative branch of government, with no fewer than four women serving in the State’s House of Assembly and one woman holding one of the three senatorial seats designated for the State at the National Assembly.

According to the rating, Lagos State was closely followed by Ekiti State, which had a WPS Index of 0.752.

The survey also placed Ekiti as having the lowest organized violence indices between 2010 and 2017 at 0.059 and the highest percentage of female decision-makers at 89.9%, 90.9 percent, and 90.9%.

According to the research, “Ekiti, a state in the southwest of Nigeria with abundant natural resources, is the top performer on the sub-national index, leading to women’s cellphone use and parliamentary representation.”

Recall that the State Government, led by Governor Kayode Fayemi, established a number of legislative and policy frameworks to protect women’s rights, promote their welfare, and guarantee that a particular proportion of leadership posts are reserved for women.

Additionally, as a result of this action, the State Civil Service has now had its first female Head of Service since the State was founded in 1996.
