Edo State Government establishes e-clinics at Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs)

The Edo State Government is establishing e-clinics at Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) around the state as part of the government’s telemedicine efforts to improve Edo people’s access to inexpensive, efficient, and high-quality healthcare.

Speaking at the inauguration of an e-clinic at the PHC in Evbueghae Community, Orhionmwon local council, the Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EPHCDA), Dr. Mrs. Obarisiagbon Eloghosa, said the government remains committed to ensuring that high-quality healthcare services are made available in rural and hard-to-reach communities in the state.

The Executive Secretary, who was represented by Dr. E. lsoken, Director of Primary Health Care in Oredo Local Government, stated that the state government is working hard to decentralize the health system and ensure a world-class system that provides people with efficient and high-quality healthcare.

The e-clinic, according to Eloghosa, will work in tandem with the state’s recently formed telemedicine centre to provide people of Evbueghae Community with high-quality health care services.

Assuring the public of the health care center’s long-term viability, the health expert stated that the state would assure the availability of sufficient employees to manage the institution, while also emphasizing that staff would be supervised for effective service delivery.

The health centre was chosen via the CSDA community-driven development process with Evbueghae Community, according to the General Manager, Edo Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Engr Osazuwa Osarumen, who was represented by the Operations Manager, Edo CSDA, Barr. Alonge Imodu.

According to Osarumen, the CSDA is responsible for ninety-seven percent of the money, while the community is responsible for three percent of the project’s budget.

He urged the community’s elders to take full ownership of the initiative because they are the health center’s primary beneficiaries.
