Eastern Cape education minister lauds tardy 12th grade test marker

Eastern Cape education MEC Fundile Gade praised Zisebenzele Mramba, the late grade 12 exam marker and high school teacher, as a trusted soldier.

Tuesday, during the memorial service for Mramba, Gade addressed the mourners by saying, “I am profoundly pained by the awful loss of a life. The industry is mourning. The departed soldier was a dependable individual who performed a good job of grading 12th grade essays.

“At this time, we pray for the family and will assist them in every way imaginable. I would also like to extend my best wishes for a rapid recovery to the [other female educator] currently hospitalized, while praising God for sparing the lives of the other two educators involved in this freak tragedy.”

Mramba, a teacher at Zibokwana Senior Secondary School, was killed in a car accident on December 21, while returning home from the Strelitzia marking facility in Kareiga, Uitenhage, Eastern Cape.

According to reports, another female instructor who was with Mramba at the time of the accident and suffering head injuries is fighting for her life in the hospital.

The police have opened a case and are investigating the accident’s cause.
