Driver narrowly escaped car explodes in flames in Queensland

After his drag racing automobile exploded in flames during a motor festival, a driver narrowly escaped with minor wounds.

On Friday afternoon, Rob Taylor was accelerating down Willowbank Raceway Track at Winternationals when the drag racer caught fire.

As the car rolled down the track, the fire grew worse, trapping Mr Taylor inside. Emergency responders eventually rescued him, and he somehow managed to walk away from the smoldering debris on his own.

Mr Taylor is seen attempting to crawl out the window as the fireball rushes down the track in footage from the event.

The driver tries to escape through the window but is overcome by the flames.

As the flames get larger, the car’s door eventually slips off and the vehicle comes to a halt.

The driver can be seen walking away from the automobile and spraying water on his face.

‘You don’t see a fire like that very often,’ the analyst remarked.

‘The fire was so powerful that it completely consumed everything inside.’ That’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like it.’
Crews rushed to Mr Taylor’s aid, and paramedics transported him to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

With burns to his face, hands, and legs, he is in a severe but stable condition.

The car is thought to have taken fire due to a fuel tank malfunction, with the gasoline igniting the flames.

Over 500 cars will compete in the Winternationals, which will take place over the weekend.
