Docuseries focusing on convicted pedophile Gary Glitter confirmed by Netflix

Netflix has confirmed the production of a three-part docuseries on convicted pedophile Gary Glitter, born Paul Francis Gadd, after his recent release from prison.

The series will be directed by Sam Hobkinson, who recently directed Misha and the Wolves, a documentary acquired by Netflix before its Sundance screening in 2021.

The series, tentatively titled Hunting Gary Glitter, will feature unseen photographs and archival footage and insights from victims and journalists who pursued Gadd during his years on the run between convictions.

Gadd rose to fame in the 1970s as Gary Glitter, a prominent figure in the glam rock scene. He released seven studio albums between 1972 and 2001, including hit songs like “Do You Wanna Touch Me,” “I Love You Love Me Love,” and “Hello, Hello, I’m Back Again.”

However, his career was short-lived as he was arrested in 1997 for possession of pornographic images of children and was later convicted of child sexual abuse in 2006.

After his release from prison in 2008, Gadd was convicted again in 2015 for attempted rape, indecent assault, and having sex with an underage girl. He served half of his sentence and was released on February 3, 2023. Amazon Prime Video and ITV are also reportedly working on documentaries about Gadd’s crimes.

If you or someone you know needs help regarding sexual abuse or assault, RAINN is available 24/7 at 800-656-HOPE (4673) or online at RAINN.org.
