David Mabuza, the vice president, expressed sorrow on the passing of Inkosi Xolile Ndevu, Ah Gcinibandla!

Inkosi Ndevu, who served as a member of the National House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders (NHTKL) from 2017 to 2021, was recently chosen as the chairperson of the Amathole Local House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders.

“The traditional leaders’ sector has suffered a great loss with the passing of Inkosi Ndevu. Inkosi Ndevu was a genuine people’s leader who actively participated in local and national Khoi-San leadership institutions, according to Mabuza.

Mabuza has sent his condolences to the family, friends, and the whole traditional and Khoi-San leadership in his capacity as the head of the Task Team established to address concerns made by traditional and Khoi-San leaders.

Inkosi Ndevu, according to the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) division, was a member of the Eastern Cape delegation to the NHTKL.

He was also extremely involved in the House’s cultural programs and held the position of Chair of the NHTKL’s Traditions and Culture Committee. The CoGTA statement read: “He was a courageous leader recognized for tackling problems with vigor and without hesitation, yet very humble.

According to the department, one of the few representatives of the institution who was beloved within its circles has left the traditional leadership sector.

“During these trying times, the family is in our thoughts and prayers.

We hope that knowing that Inkosi Ndevu bravely and tenaciously defended the interests of ubuKhosi and traditional communities may bring the family some solace.
