A “high-level” delegation was dispatched to Tanzania to negotiate the deportation of escaped serial rapist and murderer Thabo Bester and his accomplice, Dr. Nandipha Magudumana.

The delegation is set to return to South Africa on April 14th, according to Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, a spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The delegation is expected to land at Wonderboom Airport in Pretoria and be greeted by SAPS National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola.

They will also address the public about the situation.

Bester and Magudumana were arrested in Arusha, Tanzania, with the help of a Mozambican man who allegedly helped them escape the Mangaung Correctional Centre in May 2022 by faking Bester’s death.

Magudumana appeared in court in Bloemfontein, South Africa, on April 13th, while Bester followed suit on April 14th.

Magudumana and her co-accused are expected to return to court on April 17th for a possible bail application, while Bester was remanded in custody until May 16th and will not appear alongside his co-accused.
