A Visit to Learn and Replicate

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) welcomed a delegation from the Ebonyi State Government at their Novel House Office in Alausa. The purpose of the visit was to study and gain insights into the programs, structure, operations, and accomplishments of the DSVA, with the intention of replicating similar initiatives in Ebonyi.

Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, the Executive Secretary of DSVA, expressed her appreciation for the Ebonyi State Government’s proactive approach in addressing issues related to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). She emphasized that SGBV cases are a concern not only in Lagos but also worldwide. She commended the full support of the Lagos State Government, particularly Governor Sanwo-Olu, for their commitment to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, as exemplified by the THEMES Plus agenda.

Mrs. Vivour-Adeniyi highlighted the essential need for a coordinated approach and collaboration with various responding agencies, including the Police, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), the Judiciary, and sister Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, in the fight against SGBV.

The Purpose of the Visit

Mr. Austin Onwe, leading the delegation, stated that the primary objective of their visit was to learn from the DSVA. Their visit aimed to seek insights, ask questions, and explore ways to apply the knowledge acquired to enhance existing modalities in Ebonyi State.

The visiting delegation from Ebonyi State’s GBV Taskforce included high-ranking officials from various departments, such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice, the National Obstetric Fistula Centre, the GBV Clinic, Women Affairs, and Social Development.
