Debora Juarez Calls Conduct “Unacceptable”

In reaction to information about the Seattle Police Department’s response to “disturbing events” at her residence, Council President Deborah Juarez (District 5 – North Seattle) released the following statement:

I met with Chief Adrian Diaz today about the Councilmember Kshama Sawant’s manifestly improper conduct.

I was given the assurance that SPD is looking into the events that occurred at her house and would keep an eye on the situation.

The fact that this conduct has become so normal makes me sad and dismayed.

Also speaking with Councilman Sawant was myself. I expressed my worry and gave the Chief and SPD my word that we would cooperate to ensure Councilmember Sawant’s and my coworkers’ safety at home and at work.

Particularly vulnerable to exposure in the regular course of business are those working in the public sector. Our main concern is and should be ensuring the safety of all residents of Seattle.

This speech is not political. It is hatred. Politics aside, we should respect each other’s humanity.
