Aussie Mum Calls Out Emirates for Unacceptable Treatment of Disabled Son During Trip of a Lifetime

An Australian mother has criticized Emirates and its “uneducated staff,” alleging that her disabled son was mistreated during his “bucket list” trip.

Harley, who suffers from Huntington’s disease, a condition that affects a person’s mobility and brain, was traveling with his mother Katherine when he experienced a traumatic incident with the United Arab Emirates airline.

Katherine requested a wheelchair for her son at Dubai Airport, but the request was refused.

She expressed her distress on TikTok, saying that the first leg of Harley’s bucket list trip went wrong due to incorrect seating and a lack of understanding of disabilities.

Huntington’s disease is a rare, inherited disease that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain and has a wide impact on a person’s functional abilities, resulting in movement, thinking, and psychiatric disorders.

Katherine claims that staff told her that her son could walk and that he didn’t need a wheelchair.

However, when Harley attempted to walk through the terminal, he fell, cutting his leg and bleeding profusely.

Katherine asked Emirates staff for assistance, but they rushed them onto the plane without providing help.

She also lost her wallet while searching for first aid for her son.

Katherine believes that the treatment of her son was unacceptable and expressed her disappointment with Emirates.

She posted a short video on TikTok, where she interviewed Harley, who shook his head when asked if he got the seats they had booked and paid extra money for.

Katherine also stated that Emirates staff did not care about her son’s wellbeing and had ruined his bucket list trip.

The video showed a big gash and blood on Harley’s leg, which prompted an outpouring of support on social media.

Many people expressed their anger and offered to help, while others sympathized with the distressing situation.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted both Katherine and Emirates for comment on the matter.
