Since his debut single “Sweetness” dominated local radio last year, anticipation for singer-songwriter Kyle September’s debut album has been mounting.
His debut album, entitled “Daydream,” has just been released.
The new album is a collection of upbeat, feel-good pop music that is consistent with September’s signature sound and approach.
According to September, the idea of the album, like with his music, is to provide listeners with a getaway from their daily concerns. He explains that “Daydream” is a metaphor for the idea of escape that is presented throughout the album.
“It is also a concept album that depicts the story of a romance, from the initial meeting to the barriers and hardships faced by the couple as time passes.
“It investigates the wonders and perils of fleeing into one another,” he says.
Due to the pandemic, it took nearly two years to record the album, he revealed. The brilliant singer and part-time sports instructor, who had created ten original songs by the end of September, says it difficult to pick his favorite.
“All of my songs are dear to me, but if I had to select, my favorites are the most recent ones I’ve written, such as ‘Little Things,’ ‘All the Love,’ and ‘Testing 1,2’. “I am quite proud of the fact that I was able to produce these songs in the midst of lockdown,” he says.
September has spent more than a decade in the music industry, allowing him ample time to learn the ropes and discover himself.
His professional highlights to date include performing at Afriski, opening for Francois van Coke at the Misty Waters Festival, and co-hosting an online program during lockdown with Graeme Watkins.
“As said previously, I want my songs to help people forget their troubles.
“Above and beyond this, if my music can connect with someone on a human level, relate to whatever they’re experiencing, and help them with that, that would be the greatest reward for me,” he says.
