Dallas Mavericks’ stars put up a brilliant display in their teams victory over the Philadelphia 76ers

Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic led the Dallas Mavericks to a 133-126 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night, with both players scoring 40+ points. It was the first time in 30 years that a pair of teammates scored 40+ points in regulation in the same game, and the first time in Dallas Mavericks history.

The pair scored a combined 45 points in the first half, and then started the third quarter with 10 more points, beginning a 20-4 run. Doncic finished with 42 points and 12 assists, while Irving had 40 points and six assists.

Despite the 76ers scoring the first 15 points of the fourth quarter, Doncic’s return to the game earlier than planned helped the Mavericks rebuild their lead. Dallas finished with a season-high 25 3-pointers, with Irving assisting on several of them.

James Harden had a strong first half, scoring 19 points and 10 assists, but was limited to just eight points and three assists after halftime.

Doncic and Irving were 28 of 44 from the field, and both scored around the basket, with Irving making several acrobatic layups. They also combined to go 13 of 21 from 3-point range. Despite the loss, Sixers coach Doc Rivers praised the Mavericks’ performance, saying, “Everybody they passed to made it.”
