Couple rob Tinder date at gunpoint in Arizona

After setting up a phony date on Tinder, a couple was detained for robbing a guy at gunpoint.

When they met at the Embassy Suites hotel in Phoenix, Jose Sandoval Jaquez, 32, and Crystal Hulsey, 33, took a total of $3,000 from the nameless victim.

The couple forced him to drive to a nearby Chase ATM to withdraw $900 before taking off with the booty after pulling a gray revolver on him.

His phone, ID cards, social media accounts, bank information, and a total of $3,000 were also seized from him under duress.

When a thrilling police pursuit occurred, Jaquez and Hulsey were ultimately apprehended after authorities discovered her internet advertisement for escort services.

On September 17, at 10 a.m., the victim was supposed to meet “Sonya,” but Jaquez and Hulsey met him in an Embassy Suites hotel room instead.

Court records state that Jaquez brandished a gray handgun at him in the room.

The unidentified individual continued to keep the pistol out and give the victim directions while they drove his vehicle to the bank, according to a police complaint.

The pair then drove to Las Vegas in the victim’s automobile. Police attempted to stop them seven days after the original crime on September 25 but they abandoned the vehicle and fled. The gray handgun was discovered by authorities in the victim’s abandoned automobile.

Because the couple used their true identities while making hotel reservations, Phoenix Police were able to find them after the pair had been missing for days.

By scheduling a meeting with Hulsey, who was posing as an escort online and had her phone number listed, they were able to find the suspects.

On September 28, she was found in a Nissan Rogue that Jaquez was operating outside a La Quinta Inn in Phoenix.

According to a police complaint, Jaquez took off at a high speed and took the police on a pursuit through many cities while driving on the wrong side of the road.

When the SUV ran out of petrol during the pursuit, Jaquez slammed into and stole another vehicle to make his getaway.

The suspects originally drove to Tempe, Mesa, and Gilbert as they escaped east of Phoenix into the East Valley.

Near Happy Jack, Arizona, after over a hundred miles after the pursuit began, they finally collided the stolen automobile with another car.

A Department of Public Safety chopper made an emergency landing, and troopers apprehended the couple before they could flee once again.

Jaquez acknowledged to grabbing a guy out of a vehicle while claiming his fiancée was with him in a police interview. According to a police report, Jaquez said that he attempted to steal another automobile but was caught. Additionally, he was recognized in pictures taken at the Embassy Suites.

According to Phoenix Police, “Jose claimed he knew this would come back to get him.”

Hulsey faced charges for robbery, abduction, car theft, violence, and narcotics crimes. Jaquez was charged with abduction, robbery, assault, and car theft.
